Online Food Handler Certification Course

The Food Handler Certificate is required of all food handlers who are not already a Food Sanitation Manager. Under the Illinois Food Handling Enforcement Act all food handlers working in fast food restaurants, full-service restaurants, bars with food, concession stands, nursing homes, licensed day care home or facility, hospital, school, long-term care facility or a retail food store, must receive or obtain American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited training and basic safe food handling principles within 30 days after employment and every 3 years thereafter.

Online Food Service Sanitation Manager’s Course

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) requires that one manager in each restaurant or food service facility is certified in Food Service Sanitation and on premise when food is being prepared. You can earn this certificate either by taking at least an 8 hour face-to-face course followed by passing an ANSI approved exam with a score of 75 or above, OR you can take the course online at your own pace and place.  When you’ve completed the 15 chapters you are then eligible to take an ANSi approved exam which must be physically proctored.  You can take the exam online, you just must have an ANSI approved proctor watching you as you test.
